The most valuable hospitality spaces are those that give guests a reason to choose, remember and recommend a destination.
When Aqueduct 1359 Hotel Apartments envisioned the Grand City View Apartment, the ambition was never simply to add another premium apartment to its inventory. The objective was to create a signature accommodation experience that would strengthen the property's brand, elevate guest satisfaction and differentiate it within Kampala's increasingly competitive serviced apartment market.
That challenge became the foundation of this project.
Commissioned to lead the transformation, 256 Hospitality Studio, under the creative direction of Solomon Oleny, approached the project from a hospitality perspective before a design one. Rather than asking "What furniture should fill this space?", we asked, "What experience should guests remember after they leave?"
The answer inspired a residence that celebrates the elegance, warmth and generosity associated with Arabic hospitality, interpreted through a contemporary boutique apartment setting. Instead of replicating traditional Arabic interiors, we distilled their essence—layered textures, refined detailing, handcrafted craftsmanship and welcoming spaces—to create an environment that feels immersive, sophisticated and timeless.
Every design decision supported a clear business objective: to create a residence that would become a destination in its own right, encouraging guests to share their experience, recommend the property and associate Aqueduct with distinctive hospitality rather than standard accommodation.
Unlike conventional interior projects that rely on multiple contractors, the Grand City View Apartment was delivered as a fully integrated transformation by 256 Hospitality Studio. Our scope included hospitality concept development, interior design, space planning, bespoke furniture design and manufacture, interior repainting, bathroom detailing, finish selection, lighting design, decorative styling, furniture installation and complete project implementation.
Much of the furniture was conceived, designed and handcrafted by our own artisans specifically for this residence, allowing us to maintain complete control over quality, functionality and design consistency. Every element was intentionally created to reinforce the apartment's identity while meeting the practical demands of modern hospitality.
What distinguishes our approach is our belief that successful hospitality design begins with understanding the client's business goals. Drawing on Solomon Oleny's background in hospitality marketing, destination storytelling and interior branding, every project is developed to enhance guest experiences, strengthen brand identity and create hospitality products that are easier to market and more memorable to guests.
Today, the Grand City View Apartment forms part of the highly rated Aqueduct 1359 Hotel Apartments, where guests consistently praise the property's décor, comfort and attention to detail, demonstrating how thoughtful design contributes to memorable stays and reinforces the property's reputation for quality.
For 256 Hospitality Studio, the true measure of success is not simply delivering beautiful interiors. It is helping hospitality businesses create destinations that stand apart in the market, inspire guest loyalty and generate lasting value for both owners and visitors.
