Great hospitality design doesn't begin with furniture. It begins with understanding how people should feel when they walk through the door.

When 256 Hospitality Studio first visited what is now the Serene Garden View Residence, we saw more than an apartment—we saw an opportunity. While the space offered generous proportions and beautiful orchard views, it lacked the warmth, identity and memorable character expected of a premium hospitality destination.

Our brief was ambitious yet straightforward: transform an ordinary apartment into a residence that guests would remember long after checking out.
Led by Solomon Oleny, our team approached the project as a complete hospitality transformation rather than an interior decoration exercise. Every design decision was guided by one question: How can this space offer the comfort of home while delivering the experience of a boutique hotel?
Drawing inspiration from Contemporary African hospitality, we embraced natural materials, handcrafted detailing and a calm, earthy palette that complements the surrounding landscape. Large openings invite daylight into every room, while views of the orchard become part of the interior experience, creating a seamless connection between architecture and nature.

Unlike conventional interior projects, this transformation was delivered almost entirely by 256 Hospitality Studio. We designed and handcrafted the bespoke furniture in our own workshop, ensuring every piece was tailored specifically to the residence. Our team also undertook the interior repainting, selected every finish, reimagined the bathrooms with natural stone detailing, specified the lighting, and completed the final styling—creating a cohesive design language throughout the property.

The open-plan living and dining areas were conceived as spaces where families reconnect, business travellers unwind and conversations naturally unfold. The bedrooms provide peaceful retreats through carefully layered textures, handcrafted furnishings and soothing colours, while the private balcony offers guests a quiet escape overlooking the orchard and Kampala's skyline.

Every element serves a purpose. The furniture was designed for both beauty and durability. The stonework introduces warmth and timeless elegance. Every material, colour and texture was chosen not simply for its appearance, but for the atmosphere it creates and the memories it helps guests build.

Today, the Serene Garden View Residence forms part of the highly rated Aqueduct 1359 Hotel Apartments, where guests consistently praise the property's interiors, comfort and attention to detail. The project demonstrates how thoughtful design can elevate an apartment into a destination that enriches the overall guest experience. Guests have highlighted the beautiful décor, quality furnishings and meticulous attention to detail as memorable aspects of their stay.

For us, this project represents more than a successful interior transformation. It reflects the philosophy that defines 256 Hospitality Studio: creating hospitality spaces where architecture, craftsmanship and storytelling come together to deliver experiences that guests remember—and destinations owners are proud to call their own.
