As Kampala's hospitality sector becomes increasingly competitive, spacious apartments and quality finishes alone are no longer enough to command premium positioning. Guests seek memorable experiences, while proprietors look for investments that strengthen their brand, encourage positive reviews and inspire repeat business.
That was the challenge behind the Premier City View Residence at Aqueduct 1359 Hotel Apartments.
Entrusted with the transformation, 256 Hospitality Studio, under the creative direction of Solomon Oleny, was commissioned to create more than a beautifully furnished apartment. Our objective was to develop a hospitality asset that would elevate the guest experience while reinforcing Aqueduct's position as one of Kampala's distinctive boutique apartment destinations.
Rather than beginning with furniture selections, we began by understanding the property's business objective and the guest journey. The residence enjoys two remarkable natural assets—panoramic views of Kampala's skyline and a peaceful orchard below. Our design philosophy sought to celebrate both, creating an environment where guests could experience the energy of the city while enjoying the tranquillity of nature.
Inspired by the theme of Classic Africa, we developed a warm, contemporary interior that balances handcrafted craftsmanship with modern hospitality standards. Natural textures, carefully layered lighting and earthy finishes create spaces that feel elegant, welcoming and timeless, while generous openings allow daylight and the surrounding landscape to shape the interior experience.
Unlike conventional interior projects that depend on multiple suppliers, the Premier City View Residence was delivered as a fully integrated transformation by 256 Hospitality Studio. Our scope included hospitality concept development, space planning, bespoke furniture design and manufacture, interior repainting, bathroom detailing, finish selection, lighting specification, decorative styling, furniture installation and complete project implementation.
Much of the furniture was conceived, designed and handcrafted by our own artisans specifically for this residence. This allowed us to maintain complete control over quality, functionality and design consistency while creating a space that reflects Aqueduct's unique identity rather than a catalogue of off-the-shelf products.
What distinguishes our approach is that every project begins with a business objective before a design objective. Drawing on Solomon Oleny's background in hospitality marketing and destination storytelling, we design spaces that not only delight guests but also strengthen brand identity, support premium market positioning and create experiences people are eager to share.
Today, the Premier City View Residence forms part of the highly rated Aqueduct 1359 Hotel Apartments, where guests consistently praise the property's décor, comfort and attention to detail—demonstrating how thoughtful hospitality design contributes to a memorable guest experience and a stronger hospitality brand.
For 256 Hospitality Studio, the success of this project is measured not simply by the beauty of the interiors, but by the lasting value they create for both guests and property owners.
